About the workshops: Ages 15 - 18 All abilities All materials provided All together All welcome Young Creatives is a new group for young people aged 15 - 18 who are creative. This Autumn over six Saturday afternoons, Young Creatives aged 15 - 18 will discover the hidden histories and imagined narratives of Scunthorpe town centre working with local professional artists to create public art themselves for the INTO TOWN project. No experience is required. Come with energy and an ambition to make Autumn 2024 creative! Be part of a memorable artistic event and leave an impact on the town centre for years to come whilst gaining experience in art, design and media! Dates: Saturdays 1 - 4pm 14 September 21 September 28 September 5 October 14 October 19 October About the Tutor: Michael Burkitt is an Artist & Educator with 18 years experience. Having established the Foundation Diploma in Art, Design and Media at John Leggott College, Michael moved on to teach in inner city London at Lambeth College, before migrating to Brazil to lead the first ever Foundation Diploma in Art & Design in Latin America at Escola Britânica de Artes Criativas (EBAC). Michael returned from Brazil to work for His Majesty King Charles III at The Royal Drawing School in Shoreditch. Here, Michael was a Child Safeguarding Lead and trained a large cohort of artists to deliver exciting drawing workshops for Young Artists at The National Gallery, Whitechapel Gallery and Ashmolean. Michael has had his artworks exhibited in the UK and abroad. He has been commissioned to make three North Lincolnshire themed works since he returned to his hometown of Scunthorpe in 2021 and is very excited to work with young people and adults this summer to create an interactive guided tour of the town. About the Venue: We are in Scunthorpe town centre (opposite the Vue cinema and next to the bus station). fountain arts Jubilee Way Scunthorpe DN15 6RB Accessible fountain arts is an accessible space, with an accessible WC. Parking Our nearest car park is The Parishes Multi-Storey Car Park. The first two hours is free and there is no charge after 2pm or on Saturdays and Sundays. Please consider carpooling with friends, family and colleagues if driving. Train fountain arts is an 11 minute walk from Scunthorpe Train Station. Bus We are next to Scunthorpe bus station.
