A day in the life of a factory worker in 1985:

"The morning starts with catching a bus at 6:30 am provided by the company. We clock in, then the whirring machines start, with bags and bags of piece work lace knickers to be produced by Friday, we are all waiting for the final light to turn off .

The rush to the clocking off machine and the bus waiting for everyone chattering about their weekend of fun and how they will spend the well earned wages. Most importantly the aim is to get that outfit for a night in a pub . The bus arrives at the bus station straight to Chelsea girl shop, near Binns . So excited to find something new for the night ahead.

Going into town is very important for the group of factory workers, to be able to connect with

friends we all put our wages back into the local businesses, socialising around the town , meeting up at the clock then arranging your night ahead ."
